Donate a bike

Do you have an old bike gathering dust? Could that bike be used by a family in need of transport?

Committed to waste mitigation, we accept donated bikes that our staff and volunteers then refurbish in order to provide bicycles to the community at affordable prices. Adults, teens, kids, toddler size bikes all gratefully accepted.

We accept complete working bikes. We are happy to replace chains, cables, brakes and tyres etc. We are also on the look-out for helmets of all sizes and other accessories.

Become a volunteer

If you like fixing bikes, you can volunteer to help out. Come along and assist with the refurbishing of donated bikes, and performing simple repairs when people bring in their bikes. If you don’t know much about bike mechanics but want to learn, our mechanics can show you the ropes.

Bikes for refugees

The Roskill Bike Kitchen took over the Bikes for refugees’ project. Refugees as Survivors New Zealand is excited to partner with The Roskill Bike Kitchen to provide bikes for refugee families settled in Auckland. Recycling bikes for refugees has been an important part of our organisation’s work for many years and has made a significant difference to the lives of former refugee families. The Bike Kitchen initiative sees many different community groups working together to provide bikes for those in need. From a RASNZ perspective, bikes help people settle in by connecting them with their communities, schools and sporting events.

The Bike Kitchen is the integral link between our organisation and our clients and the programme has been a huge success. They have also provided bikes for most of the asylum seekers that reside at the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre. For these vulnerable people, bikes are not only a means of transport, they provide a relief from stress and depression.
