About Bike Kitchen May Rd

This Community bike kitchen caters for the new Kāinga Ora housing in and around May Rd. It is open every Thursday night from 4.30pm to 6.30pm (4.00pm to 6.00pm from mid-June to end of July).

Our aim is to get as many people on bikes at an affordable cost, and keep them riding. We can do quick repairs to any minor issues your bike might have to get you back on the bike. The workshop is run by volunteers, and there are no charges for labour or used parts. To keep you riding, we will always try to fix any bike presented to us – and, if possible, with your help. Coming early will also increase your chances to avoid waiting times. Space is at a premium at the Bike Kitchen so it is not possible to drop a bike off for repair and collect it later.

Because volunteers cannot perform every possible repair and we are only open two hours a week, please don’t come when your bike is fully broken down and unridable – if a repair is too complex or takes specific parts we will recommend you go to a bike shop.

You can donate bikes to the Bike Kitchen during opening hours, or drop it off at Bike Hub Mount Roskill, which is open Tuesdays 9am – 1pm, 3 – 6pm; Fridays 9am – 1pm; and Saturdays 9am – 1pm.
